BCLTA Bulletin

Conference 2013 Recap

It was a great conference and we have tried to capture as much of the trustee action as possible in this Bulletin and on our website.  If you were unable to attend this year (or even if you did!), read on for the details on what was presented and decided.

Notable this year was our trial of a one-day cluster of trustee sessions, AGM, Awards and trustee roundtable and reception on Saturday -- a trial that paid off in higher attendance and much positive feedback.

We are doing our best to be present at regional meetings and conferences around the province this year as well, bringing TOP sessions and trustee roundtable discussions as close as possible to your community.

Meet Your New Board of Directors

The BCLTA AGM was held on Saturday, May 11, 2013, where member libraries elected four new directors and reappointed two others for two-year terms (2013 - 2015). The board of directors therefore remains at full capacity with 11 members from every corner of the province.

2013 BC Library Conference

The conference is over for another year, and we hope the fond memories will linger for all of you (the BCLTA slideshow may help!). Our efforts to consolidate all trustee offerings in one day paid off with higher attendance and many, many positive remarks and thanks from those who participated.

As promised, the presentations from "The W5 of Fundraising for Libraries" and "Planning for Success" sessions are now available on our website, as are the minutes and documents from the 2013 Annual General Meeting.

2013 BCLTA Award Winners

Four outstanding trustees won recognition for their service and commitment to BC libraries at the BC Library Awards luncheon and ceremony on Saturday, May 11. Representing libraries from Prince George, Nakusp, Gibsons and Vancouver, these accomplished individuals demonstrate the expertise resident on our pubic library boards and the leadership they contribute to their communities.

Former Gibsons and District Public Library Chair Donna McMahon's BCLTA Super Trustee award acceptance speech rocked the house at the awards luncheon in Richmond this month. Read it and decide: Are YOU a CLAM?
