BCLTA Bulletin

October 2013

In this issue, we provide information on the Directors' and Officers' liability insurance now available at a BCLTA member rate to all libraries in BC.  For many of our member boards, the BCLTA offering may be less expensive than purchasing coverage on your own. Read the article to see if this coverage will benefit your library system.

We'd also like to draw your attention to a new feature on our website, thanks to a suggestion from one of our member trustees. A search box is now available on every page of our site: use it to find relevant content on a specific topic instantly.

As always, we welcome your feedback on our membership offerings and activities. Please call or write with your suggestions!

New Insurance Offering for Library Boards

Library trustees may be held personally liable for any wrongdoing or negligence as the Library Act does not prevent suits from being pursued or cover defense costs. Directors’ and officers’ liability insurance is recommended by the Libraries and Literacy Branch and the BCLTA to protect you or your entire board against potential personal financial losses arising from wrongful acts.
