BCLTA Bulletin

November 2013

Bundle up and read!  BC public library board trustees have a new source for learning on the BCLTA website: a MEMBERS ONLY tab located at the top of every page (read more in the article below). We launch the feature with a series of six free publications (a $152 value) from BoardSource, a new BCLTA partner.

We would also like to thank you for your response to our member survey.  Overall, the participation rate was excellent, at 30% of our membership.  However, since we have had inquiries from several late responders, it's not too late!  We have left the survey open at http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/bclta/bclta-member-survey/ -- the new deadline is November 12.

Board Liability Insurance for Libraries

The Library Act specifies that library boards may sue and be sued.   Directors’ and officers’ liability insurance is recommended by the Libraries and Literacy Branch and the BCLTA to protect you or your entire board against potential financial losses arising from wrongful acts.

A reduced-rate policy for BC library boards is now available through the BCLTA.
